Napoli can climb to the top of the Serie A table at least for a few hours on Saturday if they can beat Udinese at home. Luciano Spalletti’s side returned to winning ways at Verona after their home defeat to direct rivals AC Milan, who are now leading the race. Udinese is unbeaten in the last four games, but they only won two matches in 2022.
Napoli has a doable fixture list
Although the competition is big with the two Milan sides, Napoli will benefit from having a streak of manageable games from now until the end of the season with only three games pitting them against the top half of the standing teams.
But Napoli had a mediocre February after they started the month with a win against Venezia. Successive 1-1 draws against Inter and Cagliari didn’t help them to return to the summit of the Serie A standings.
Nevertheless, they managed to win both of their last two away games by 2-1. Their victories at Lazio and Hellas Verona were sandwiched by a season-defining defeat by Stefano Pioli’s Milan.
When and where to watch?
The match kicks off at 14:00 on Saturday 19th March 2022, and the entire match will be available on BT Sport.
Four draws from the last seven for Udinese
Udinese only lost once from their last seven games, but they also only managed to take three points home on just two occasions. After Genoa, they’re also becoming masters of finishing games with a point.
Since their 4-0 defeat to Verona, they conceded just a goal in each of their last four games. But they also only scored five times in the process as they take six points from these fixture lists.
Udinese is unbeaten in four successive league matches for the second time this season, but they only won one of those eight fixtures in total. They were also knocked out of Coppa Italia by Ciro Immobile’s extra-time goal against Lazio.
Four different scorers in the first meeting
Napoli comfortably beat Udinese 4-0 in the reverse fixture with two goals each scored in both halves. Star striker Victor Osimhen, center backs Amir Rrahmani and Kalidou Koulibaly and Mexican winger Hirving Lozano scored the goals for the away side.
Napoli & Udinese Team News
Napoli will continue to be without squad players Kevin Malcuit, Alex Meret, and Andrea Petagna due to injuries.
Antonio Santurro and Nehuen Perez are unavailable for the trip to Naples for Udinese.
Napoli will find inspiration from leading the summit
Later in the day, the two Milan sides will be in action against Fiorentina and Cagliari. If Napoli start the weekend with the win, the pressure will be on the two sides to match their result in the three-horse title race. But Napoli struggled for goals since November 2022 as they only netted more than two goals in a game once. If we omit the Verona defeat, Udinese conceded four in their last six games.
