Betting Preview: RB Leipzig v Frankfurt

Bundesliga’s in-form side RB Leipzig host Eintracht Frankfurt in the first of the three Sunday fixtures. Frankfurt also won each of their last two Bundesliga games, but they will be coming into the fixture after playing in Europe on Thursday. Leipzig progressed to the quarterfinal of the Europa League without kicking the ball as Spartak Moscow was banned from the competition.

Leipzig hit Furth for six

After conceding in the opening minutes through the danger man Jaime Lewling, RB Leipzig responded expertly against the cellar-dwellers last weekend as they equaled their record away victory in the Bundesliga.

And both of their 6-1 victories on the road came in 2022. Dominico Tedesco brought back the good times in RedBull Arena as Leipzig collected maximum points out of any Bundesliga side since the turn of the year.

Their star player of the season Christopher Nkunku and veteran Emil Forsberg scored and assisted two goals each in the thumping of Furth. Leipzig had six different goal scorers on the night Andre Silva netted his 50th Bundesliga goal.

When and where to watch?

The match kicks off at 14:30 on Sunday 20th March 2022, and the entire match will be available on Sky Sports.

Frankfurt also came from behind against Bochum

Frankfurt were also trailing against the other newly-promoted side Bochum last Sunday. Sebastian Polter’s goal made Frankfurt wary of a fifth successive home defeat in Bundesliga, which would be the first occurrence in the club’s history.

And, to make matters worse, they didn’t score for six hours in front of their fans heading to the second-half. But it all changed in the first seven minutes after the teams got back to the pitch for the second half.

Erhan Masovic’s own-goal and an excellent team goal by Daichi Kamada saw Frankfurt turn the game in the space of two goals scored in six minutes. The result maintained their slight hopes of challenging for a European place.

Three successive 1-1 draws in this fixture

All three last games between Leipzig and Frankfurt ended in draws. Forsberg had his 100th direct goal involvement when the teams finished last season’s game at RedBull Arena 1-1. The reverse fixture this season ended Tuta netting the equalizer for the hosts in injury-time.

RB Leipzig & Eintracht Frankfurt Team News

Leipzig has a full squad to face Frankfurt for Sunday’s showdown.

Djibril Sow is suspended for accumulated yellow cards while fellow midfielder Sebastian Rode is out with an injury. Danny da Costa and Ragnar Ache are still working their way to full fitness.

Leipzig facing a tough test for the top four finish

Last season’s runner-up now faces a strong challenge for a Champions League berth from Bayer Leverkusen, TSG Hoffenheim and SC Freiburg with only two spaces left for the four sides. Frankfurt can still dream of a place in the European Conference League as they only trail seventh-placed FC Koln by two points.
