Betting Preview: Roma v Verona

AS Roma entertain Hellas Verona with only four points between the sides in the standings. Roma ended both of their last two games in a draw. Verona secured their joint-best victory of the season when they thrashed Udinese 4-0 last weekend.

Roma missed a chance to close down to UCL spots

It’s not a lost cause, but Roma struggled to find themselves in a Champions League qualification hustle for another season. Jose Mourinho’s arrival looked to fire the team at the start of the season, but they’re now finishing too many games with a battle for a point.

Last weekend, it was in the 94th minute Bryan Cristante netted the equalizer against Sassuolo, who finished the game with ten after closing on a comeback victory at home in Mapei Stadium.

Roma is now six points behind fourth-placed Juventus in the race for Europe’s premier competition. Atalanta and Lazio are also ahead of Roma in the Europa League direct qualification spots.

When and where to watch?

The match kicks off at 17:00 on Saturday 19th February 2022, and the entire match will be available on BT Sport.

12 from 18 for Verona in 2022

Igor Tudor continues to improve Hellas Verona as the side is now playing entertaining football while there is no relegation concern. They scored four goals last weekend once again in Serie A.

Out of the six games since the turn of the year, Verona won four. And they had three victories from their last four league games including a sensational 4-2 victory at Sassuolo.

Gianluca Caprari and Giovanni Simeone, who is the son of Atletico Madrid’s Diego, are the standout players, but it’s mostly about the team organization and the tactics of the sought-after coach Tudor that played a big role in Verona’s excellent season.

Five goals thriller in the reverse meeting

Three second-half goals helped Verona to pick maximum points in their first game against Roma this season. It was Roma who scored first, but Tudor’s side was dominant after the break with Caprari putting on a man-of-the-match performance. Verona’s three goals scored in the space of the first 20 minutes after the halftime break.

AS Roma & Hellas Verona Team News

Gianluca Mancini will be out of the game because of a yellow card suspension. Leonardo Spinazzola is yet to return to the pitch while Stephan El Shaarawy and Roger Ibanez will also be absent from Roma.

Verona also have their injury worries. Miguel Veloso, Gianluca Frabotta, Ivor Pandur and Pawel Dawidowicz will all be unavailable for the trip to the capital.

Roma to put the pressure on teams ahead of them?

Roma will be playing before Atalanta and city rivals Lazio enter the pitch this weekend. This could help to pile the pressure for the fight for the Europa League place for Mourinho’s side. Verona is enjoying life at the top half of the standings in what has been a successful first season for Tudor.
